My friend Dennis ( yes, THE Dennis Tran, “Love Guru to DMV Engineers”) and I attended a viewing party for Joe Squared at Powerplant live. Joe Squared, voted number one bestest pizza in all of Maryland, was featured on Guy Fieri’s show ” Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” on the Food network a few days ago.
We had the opportunity to watch the show, and sample the actual risotto, pizza, and fried raviolis from that particular episode.
The episode was pretty entertaining, especially when Duff ( From Charm City Cakes) popped into say hello. If you’ve never heard of Joe Squared or even knew of it being an award winning pizza restaurant in the area than you must have been living underneath a rock for like 10 years. Seriously, it really is the bestest pizza in all of Maryland. Totally worth the 45 minute drive from my house and then some.
Though we opted out of attending the premier party at the original location, Dennis and I had the best opportunity to speak with Brittany. Brittany was not only our waitress but she was also featured in the “Diners, Drive-ins and Dives” episode we watched that day. We were lucky enough to have a candid interview with her about Joe, her work and why she loves what she does.
Brittany beamed openly about working for Joe, and shared how Joe’s original store has been around for 6 years, collected tons of awards and started because of a drunken conversation shared amongst friends. Brittany talked about Joe being one of the most charitable, easy-going people she’s ever met and about how working at this restaurant is a very happy experience for her.
Aside from the great service, the risotto, pizza and ravioli were phenomenal. They were so good that I had to take some of it home to savor it the next day. If you ever want to eat Grade-A pizza that’s pretty much endorsed by the Food Network, stop on by to Joe Squared at Power plant live. You will not only get great service but be fed like royalty.
